HEALTHCARE RESEARCHER

The Healthcare Researcher Student will help the Tilbury District Family Health Team (TDFHT) support and promote interprofessional and team-based collaboration designed to improve primary health care, patient access, service integration, and patient centeredness through working with their mentor on a research project.
Qualifications:
• Post-secondary student (or proof of first year acceptance), with intent to return to school on a full time basis
• Must have been a full time student in the most recent academic year
• In order to be eligible, participants must be between 15-30 years of age, at the start of the funded position
• Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred
• Have a valid SIN
• Proficiency in computer software applications
• Enthusiastic, organized, and a self-starter
• A vulnerable sector police clearance is required and you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Healthcare Research Student – Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ)

Reports to: Executive Director

Status: Temporary – Full-Time (35 hours per week for 8 weeks)

Date: May 2024

Summary:

The Healthcare Research Student will help the Tilbury District Family Health Team (TDFHT) support and promote interprofessional and team-based collaboration designed to improve primary health care, patient access, service integration, and patient centeredness through working with their mentor on a research project.

Accountability:

This position reports to the Executive Director

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Student is familiar with performing literature searches and review
• Able to utilize skills learned in academic studies in this position
• Able to communicate effectively with staff and clients
• Demonstrated understanding of a team-based service delivery model
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
• Demonstrates ability to work as part of a team and be a team player
• Shows accuracy and attention to detail
• Able to organize work to ensure deadlines are met and follow-up is complete
• Has working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint & Excel
• Applies data management skills and principles

General Responsibilities:

• Works in a manner that preserves confidentiality
• Conscientious work habits that ensure accuracy, reliability and accountability
• Works in a manner that incorporates health promotion and determinants of health
• Contributes to quality improvement through ideas and participation in the team’s work
• Contributes to the team’s work by participating in meetings and on committees

Qualifications and Education:

• Student must be enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student or graduate student in a healthcare related degree program or equivalent
• Student must have completed at least one research method course or prior research experience
• Post-secondary student (or proof of first year acceptance), with intent to return to school on a full time basis
• Must have been a full time student in the most recent academic year
• Proficiency in computer software applications
• Strong communication skills
• Enthusiastic, organized, and a self-starter

Salary: $16.55 per hour
