REGISTERED KINESIOLOGIST
TEMPORARY FULL-TIME (CONTRACT WITH POTENTIAL TO PERMANENT)

The Registered Kinesiologist (RK) will function in close collaboration with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Allied Health Care Professionals within the Family Health Team to ensure patients receive comprehensive, competent, and appropriate care. As a member of the team, the RK will use evidence-based research to treat and prevent injury and disease, and to improve movement and performance, in collaboration with the interprofessional team.

Qualifications: The Registered Kinesiologist is in good standing with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. Minimum of 3 – 5 years experience in a primary health care setting or related environment. Experience working with diabetes, COPD and other chronic conditions/Certified Diabetes Educator/ ACSM CEP or CSEP CEP Certification considered assets. As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Registered Kinesiologist

Reports to: The Nurse Practitioner Clinical Lead

Status: Temporary Full-Time (contract with potential to permanent)

Date: December 2022

Summary:
The Registered Kinesiologist (RK) will function in close collaboration with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Allied Health Care Professionals within the Family Health Team to ensure patients receive comprehensive, competent, and appropriate care. As a member of the team, the RK will use evidence-based research to treat and prevent injury and disease, and to improve movement and performance, in collaboration with the interprofessional team.

Accountability:
The Registered Kinesiologist is accountable to the Nurse Practitioner Clinical Lead.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete comprehensive assessments including MSK concerns, CVD risk, and readiness to change.
• Assess and recommend exercises for patients with a number of Chronic Health conditions such as Diabetes, COPD, Cardiovascular Disease, Arthritis, Obesity and self-care Chronic Pain populations
• Responsible for group facilitation (including support group) using adult education methods, including Motivational Interviewing
• Assist in program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the programs and organization
• Willingness to work at full scope through the use of medical directives
• Attend meetings and disseminate appropriate information
• Maintains a cooperative relationship amongst the team by communicating information and participating in team problem-solving methods
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and professional development opportunities
• Follow TDFHT policies and procedures

Minimum Job Requirements:
• Registered Kinesiologist in good standing with College of Kinesiologists of Ontario
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
• Due to the nature of the position, flexible hours are required including evenings until 8:00 p.m. You may also be required to work out of either of our office in Chatham or Tilbury.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
• Experience working with diabetes, COPD and other chronic conditions patients is an asset.
• Certified Diabetes Educator considered an asset
• ACSM CEP or CSEP CEP certification considered an asset
• Up to date First Aid and CPR.
• Experience working with Electronic Medical Records with use of Accuro considered an asset.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Must have excellent decision-making skills
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
• Willingness to attend continuing education and training opportunities
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a primary care setting is an asset
